ABOUT ME

My name is Sheree Anne Marinus. I have recently completed my last year (Treatise) in the MArch (Maters of Architectural studies) course at the NMMU. I completed my BAS (Bachelor of Architectural Studies) at the NMMU, and graduated on the 19th of April 2013.

During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate enough to be awarded with the national SAEE Bursary in 2011, being 1 of 3 students - based on merit. In 2012, I was awarded the national SAB Foundation Innovation Award. Both of these awards clearly displayed my interests, as I am fascinated with sustainable design, energy efficiency and green buildings. I am also interested in innovating and designing systems  that can inprove the lifestyle of human beings, and more specifically the less fortunate.

I decided to study the art of architecture, because I believe that an architect can determine the way a person would feel in a given space. I believe that this is a paramount component other than the opportunity to create a work of art while creating a pleasant working or living environment.

I love adventure, constantly seeking new opportunities - "We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."

I am very hardworking, disciplined and organized. I am a fast learner, with the willingness to learn and explore everything that interests me. My motto is "Don't leave it for tomorrow, do it today." I try to be as productive and as focused as I can possibly be when it comes to my studies/work.

I enjoy challenges and thinking of innovative ideas to simplify tasks or problems. I love spending my spare time doing anything creative, designing, visual arts, writing and ballroom dancing.

They say if you do what you love, you don't have to work a day in your life. Architecture isn't just a profession to me, it has become a part of who I am.
